被稱為紅眼或紅肩綠菠蘿的本種，為分布於南美亞馬遜河流域環境中的淡水熱帶慈鯛物種。由於個性溫和，少有明顯之侵略性與領域性，因此成為受歡迎的飼養對象。就正如所有本屬物種一般，本種建議能飼養在酸性軟水中，並且與諸如豬魚或巧克力菠蘿等體型相近的種類一同搭配飼養。
Red-eyed or Red Shoulder Severum (Heros appendiculatus), is a freshwater tropical cichlid native to the Amazon region in South America. As an aquarium fish, the severum is a relatively mild-tempered cichlid, although aggression and territorial is not uncommon. As with all fish in the genus Heros, the Red Shoulder Severum should be kept in a similar set up to South American Cichlids, weak acid and soft water, and of similar size tank mates such as Oscar or Chocolate Cichlid. |
